Kootenai River & Kootenai National Forest

Our Communities

Both Libby and Troy are located on the river banks of the Kootenai River. The towns are jump-off points to access the Kootenai National Forest, the northern boundary of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness, Yaak Forest, Yaak River, and Bull River Valley.

This proximity to four seasons of outdoor recreation—on land and water—means lots of roof racks loaded with bikes, kayaks, skis, and canoes. It’s a great place to get away and play. A handy way to digitally explore the area is Explore Libby Montana.
